A book about grief, welcoming new love, and understanding human experience through observing the natural world. In July 2023 I attended a month-long residency at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California shortly following the death of my mother. During the long walks each day to and from the studio I began collecting nasturtium flowers and writing about what the plant had to teach me about the cycles and seasons of experience. Farewell to Spring developed during that summer and combines pressure prints of gathered nasturtium plants with hand-set lead type.
