Thicket is a multi-layered reflection on the intricate relationship between humanity and the more-than-human world. The original text explores the physical experiences climbing plants and wonders how we have wandered so far from their message of mutual flourishing. Entirely letterpress printed, it layers together hand-set lead type, wood type, and pressure prints of tangled vines collected from the hillside behind my home in southern Appalachia. The book’s structure—individual signatures sewn into an accordion spine—invites readers to unfold a landscape of overlapping pages and ideas.
