I strive to create paintings that capture both my sensory and emotional experience of natural places, merging of the carefully observed physical landscape with my own harder to pin down emotional landscape. I painted General Sherman after returning from a trip hiking through the ancient snow covered forests of Sequoia + Kings Canyon National Park.
