I strive to create paintings that capture both my sensory and emotional experience of natural places, merging of the carefully observed physical landscape with my own harder to pin down emotional landscape. I painted Portuguese Bend after spending time hiking through Portuguese Bend Reserve in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA and observing the rich yellow glow of the afternoon light hitting the rocks in the cove.
